Wrestlers struggle in Quads

The Flier wrestling team had tough time on the mat at quadrangulars in Garretson and Parker.
“On Tuesday in Garretson, we looked really well and showed up to wrestle,” said Coach Cody Chamblin, “but giving up 24 points (forfeits) is hard to overcome.”
“Thursday we wrestled not as explosive and it showed in our team scores,” he said.
“In these quads, our younger kids are getting a few wins under their belt and gaining confidence.”


GARRETSON – Being open at 138, 144,157 and 285, the Fliers gave up 24 points in each dual on Tuesday, Jan. 23.
Final scores were 42-39 against Garretson, 66-18 against Sioux Falls Lincoln and 39-33 against Parkston.
Going 3-0 on the night were Teague Bergjord at 113, Justin Klein at 165 and Karter Headrick at 190. Cameron Blair, Zach Pederson and Gabriel Frias were all 2-1 on the night.

PARKER – The Fliers were blanked at the Parker Quad on Thursday, Jan. 25. Final scores were 42-28 in the dual with Parker, 38-36 againt Lennox and 56-18 with Parkston.
Bergjord was the lone Flier to get all three wins on the night. Two wins to one loss were recorded by Blair, Pederson, Klein, Alex Lopez and Headrick.
