New museum displays provide a once in a life time learning experience

The changes continue to the buildings, the grounds, and the displays within the Moody County Museum.
One of the most recent additions is an interactive element to the Dakota Archives. Avery Jones and Devin Drapeau of the Wakpa Ipakšaŋ Dakodiapi program, along with other staff at the Flandreau Santee Sioux Wicoicaga Otipi Community Center, have helped to incorporate opportunities to learn the Dakota language. The words accompany QR codes that visitors can scan to hear audio recordings of pronunciations.
Others involved with the project, according to Museum staff and volunteers, are Jonathan and Letishia Kelley of Kelley Creative Collective, Royal River Casino Marketing Director Brandi Olson, Royal River Casino Web Admin/ Graphic Designer Vanessa Polmateer, and FSST Assistant Attorney General Tre Gillaspie.
The Museum will offer further insight not only on Native tradition and history in the area, but all local history and culture at an upcoming fashion show that features many of the pieces donated to the Museum over the years.
The Vintage and Traditional Fashion Show is scheduled for April 20th at 7pm at the Crystal Theatre.
