Hawks hit a wall with Eagles to end season in SoDak 16

FORT PIERRE – The Wall Eagles denied the Colman-Egan Hawks the chance to play in the SDHSAA Class B Girls State Tournament with a 75-44 win over the local girls.
Kaylee Voelker scored 16 points and Brynlee Landis, 10. Lanie Mousel had five rebounds.

The score was tied at 14 after one quarter of play before the Eagles took off and scored 21 second period points to the Hawks’ seven. Wall again came out and scored big in the third period, netting 25 points while Colman-Egan put in 12. The victors also won the final quarter 15-11.
The Hawks shot a respectable 53 percent from the field but were only 2 of 9 from the charity stripe. Wall shot 48 percent and 47 percent.
The Hawks committed 29 turnovers to the Eagles’ 18.
The Hawks close the year at 15-8 and will lose to graduation two senior players, Lanie Mousel and Paisley Rentschler.
