Hawks crowned DVC volleyball champs
Dakota Valley Conference tournament champions are the Colman-Egan Hawks. Team members are front, from left, Kinzley Shafer, Savanna Schmidt, Karissa Williams, Presley Luze, Daniela Lee, Aleigha Lange and Paisley Rentschler. COLMAN – The Dakota Valley Conference Volleyball Tournament took place over the weekend with action taking place in two round-robin pods in Colman and White.
Colman-Egan won the title in the Colman pod while Deubrook Area, Iroquois/Lake Preston and Oldham-Ramona/Rutland split the title in the Deubrook pod.
Colman-Egan won the title in the Colman pod by compiling a 4-0 record in the tournament. Castlewood and Elkton-Lake Benton both finished with a record of 2-2 while Estelline-Hendricks and Arlington each finished with a 1-3 record.
Colman-Egan 2, Castlewood 0
The Hawks defeated the Warriors, picking up the win with a 25-16 victory in the first set and a 26-24 victory in the second set.
Anna Zwart led the Hawks with seven kills in the win while Presley Luze had a team-high 21 digs. Kaylee Voelker had a team-high 17 assists while Voelker and Rhode each had one ace in the win. Lee, Lanie Mousel, Zwart, Voelker and Rhode each had one block.
Colman-Egan 2, Arlington 0
The Hawks defeated the Cardinals in two sets, winning the first set 25-23 and the second set 25-14.
Lee led C-E with 16 kills and tied for the team lead with seven digs and three blocks. Luze also had seven digs while Rhode had three blocks. Mousel and Voelker tied for the team lead with 10 assists and Rhode had two aces in the win.
Addie Steffensen had seven kills and tied with Issie Steffensen for the team lead with one block each. Addie Steffensen also tied with Jo Steffensen with one ace each. Madi Bacon also led the Redhawks with eight digs.
Colman-Egan 2, Elkton-Lake Benton 0
The Hawks defeated the Elks in two sets, winning the first set 25-22 and the second set 25-20.
Lee led the Hawks with seven kills, two blocks and 18 digs. Mousel had 13 assists while Luze had an ace in the win.
Ramlo led ELB with seven kills and 10 digs and tied for the team lead with Maya Jensen with three blocks. Erickson had a team-high 16 assists in the loss.
Colman-Egan 2, Estelline/Hendricks 1
The Hawks defeated the Redhawks in three sets. C-E won the first set 25-18 before Estelline/Hendricks won the second set 25-13 but the Hawks closed the match out by winning 25-22 in the third set.
Beare led the Redhawks with 19 kills while Johnson led Estelline/Hendricks with 27 digs and 21 assists. Johnson, Beare and Presly Bury each had two blocks while Texly had two aces.
No individual stats were submitted for the Hawks in this game.
