Bulls and Babes: A new rodeo rides into town

Moody County has a new addition to its summer calendar with the debut of Bulls and Babes Rodeo, set to take place on June 1st. Nathan and Heather Hill, of the newly opened Grizzly Meats in Flandreau, plan to host the inaugural event on the land just south of their business on South Veterans Street.
The Hills, no strangers to the rodeo scene, were inspired to bring back the excitement of the rodeos hosted in recent years by the Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe. FSST, after several years of a multi-day event, decided this past year to discontinue what had been known as Flandreau Rodeo Days.
The Hill’s work with a number of other rodeo communities each summer on sound and other production needs for their own events.

Bulls and Babes is scheduled to kick off at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 1 with family-friendly activities and a Barrel Racing slack. Late afternoon and early evening will be the top 12 Barrel racers along with the bull riders. The bull riding is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
Clothing and other vendors are expected to be on the grounds throughout the day and there will be live music on the grounds that evening.
Nathan and Heather Hill emphasize that Bulls and Babes isn’t just about the rodeo – it’s about bringing the community together for a day of fun, laughter, and shared experiences. “This is for the community, come out enjoy the live entertainment and make some great memories,” said Hill.
The couple extends a warm invitation to all to join in the festivities.
For those looking to get involved, from vendors, to volunteers, or financial supporters, there are opportunities available. For more information, contact Hill at (605) 691-3967.
